Bedrock Booking is a Torbay-born initiative helping visitors discover meaningful things to do and places to stay, while ensuring more of the value created by tourism stays rooted in ‘the Bay’.
Every booking supports local accommodation providers, strengthens community wellbeing, and helps people feel genuinely connected to where they are, not just where they’re visiting.
With over 15,000 tourist beds and a £435M+ annual visitor economy, Torbay is perfectly placed to meet the growing demand for staycations, wellness tourism, and ethical travel, and to do it in a way that benefits everyone.
Every booking keeps tourism revenue circulating in Torbay, helping local businesses thrive and grow.
Connecting visitors and residents to create healthier, happier, and more resilient communities.
Tourism benefits everyone, fostering long-term, community-led growth across 'the Bay'.
Bedrockbooking.com brings together local accommodation, wellbeing experiences, cultural events, and eco-based activities in one welcoming place, designed around people, place, and purpose.
Bedrock is also being developed as a regenerative tourism CIC. The booking platform will generate income through accommodation and experience bookings, with profits reinvest in local communities and the natural environment. Over time, we want local people to have a meaningful say in how that money is used, creating a tourism economy that actively contributes to the wellbeing of the whole Bay, including its more-than-human world.
Wellness, cultural, and eco-based experiences plus accommodation options.
Local knowledge, events and authentic narratives shared via the platform.
Dedicated fund for community projects throughout Torbay.
A whole-place approach to health, happiness, and long-term resilience.

Led by Rachel and Daryl Geary and supported by Torbay-based professionals, Bedrock Booking is being shaped in collaboration with local communities, businesses, and partners across ‘the Bay’.

I moved to Torquay in 2007, having lived all over the country. There was a point I was worried I would never settle down, but Babbacombe beach captured my heart the first time we met, and this place has felt like home ever since… particularly once I met Daryl ❤️
My career also took a while to settle. I worked in schools, nursing homes, hotels, shops, cafés, call centres and managed several backpackers before finally discovering my thing was health. Since 2008 I’ve been running a community acupuncture clinic in St. Marychurch, which has given me a rich opportunity to get to know my community and to learn to think very differently.
More recently, I completed a Master’s in Sustainability and Behaviour Change at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT), before working for a while as a Climate Strategy and Project Officer at Torbay Council.
I am passionate about supporting human flourishing and protecting the natural world, and I’m increasingly drawn to the places where these two intersect, such as this incredible project.
That’s why I am so excited to be involved with Bedrock Booking and the Happiness Collective, because I’m confident that when we work together in harmony with nature, it makes us all stronger, healthier and happier.

I was brought up in Torquay. At the age of 17, I moved to London, where I spent 15 successful years in F.M.C.G. I am an entrepreneur and have designed and developed multiple products. Latterly, I have focused on developing concepts that leaned towards environmental and …
sustainable solutions. Towards the end of my time in London, I found myself spending most of my money returning home to Torquay almost every weekend, until I finally moved back in the early 1990s. It was the sea that was calling me home.
In 1986, I brought my first computer and started working with databases, learning DOS and developing skills with CAD. Throughout this self-taught process I have relished in designing new products and building brands, with problem-solving at the core of all new ventures. I see solutions to big problems and possess the will to understand. Along this journey, I have become a web design, developer and SEO (search engine optimisation) specialist.
I’m good with people and have profound love for Torbay, with passions for the natural world, walking and racing sailing boats. I am also passionate about sharing my skills to help Torbay’s communities, businesses and environment flourish!

I spent my teenage growing up in Torquay in the ‘80s, where my father was Vicar of Torre. I did all the traditional Torbay teenage jobs, washing dishes in hotels, serving in restaurants, and even working on the Fleet Walk building site.
Despite my love of Devon I did as many teenagers still do, I headed to London for university and work. I have kept my Torbay connection though, I still have family and business interests here, and come down regularly to continue my love of swimming, cycling, and walking.
Since graduating I’ve spent 25 years working in web development and digital marketing for leading global digital agencies. In that time I’ve held a wide-range of senior management positions encompassing project and programme management, technology, operations and new business.
I’ve known Daryl for many years now and have always admired his enthusiasm and drive to make a difference. I also see the current challenges for my nephews growing up in Torquay and Paignton, and see first-hand how both money and skills continue to leave the Bay. I am very excited to be involved in this project, and keen to help support the people and businesses of Torbay.
